Police involved shooting

Police are investigating a shooting involving police officers on Pennington Avenue & Calhoun @ the Getty station.

The shooting took place just after 5 PM Saturday evening

When officers from the Street crimes unit were conducting an investigation and realized one of 3 alleged suspects being searched had a gun in his waistband. The suspect took off running, pulled out the gun, then allegedly turn towards Police

Police officers fired their service weapons at the suspect striking him as many as five times

.

The Suspect was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton where he underwent surgery and is expected to survive.

Sources say two of the officers involved in the incident are Sgt. Jason Astbury and officer Matthew Hutchinson

The incident is being investigated by the Mercer County prosecutors office
