Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler announced that on Monday afternoon, March 12, 2018, members of the Mercer County Sheriff s Office arrested DONTAI JONES. Jones was arrested at his residence on the 200 block of Spring Street, Trenton, in connection with a violent act that took place in a Mercer County courthouse three weeks ago. Jones identity was determined from confidential tips by members of the public who recognized his photo.

On Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Jones allegedly provoked an argument with an employee at the Family Case Management window located on the second floor of the Mercer County Civil Courthouse. Jones was purportedly seeking information on restraining orders when he attempted to strike the employee, shattering a protective partition window. The incident was caught on surveillance cameras. A photo of the suspect and his description was distrubuted to local media and was posted on the Sheriff s Facebook page.
